Annual Memorial Day Bike Ride 2010

Ready...Set...Go!  Here we are again in the parking lot of the Rio Linda Community Center.  This is where we begin our 23 mile bike ride into Discovery Park and on to Old Sacramento.
Here's Aaron...being a show off!

...and here's the rest of us!

Stopping along the way for a quick snack.

When my brother David saw this picture (below) he asked if we were sitting at the "Special Table" since we were all wearing our helmets, "Of course" I said, "we are all special!"

Inside our favorite shop in Old Sac...the Candy Store.  The store worker asked if we wanted to try a Texas Size Hot Tamale.  I LOVE Hot Tamales, so I said yes...and my eyes began to water immediately, Aaron and Kim, too!
After we are done here, we head back into Rio Linda for the best pizza and breadsticks in the world at Papa's Pizzeria!

Happy Mother's Day

My mom has become a big fan of Square Foot gardening. My dad built her a box and she always has something yummy growing in it. Kind of ironic since my parents have an acre of land to garden on! So...for mother's day I made her a dirt cake (ice cream cake with oreo cookie). The veggies on top were all completely edible...made from candies. Just ask her grandkids.
Westley samples the carrot...
...and Tucker eats the peas! We had to be really nice to Mom this day...last night she totalled her car. Well actually, a girl talking on her cell phone while driving, missed her red light, went into the intersection and ran into my mom. She went to the hospital via ambulance and ended up with six stitches in her lip. Happy Mother's Day!

New Skechers...finally!

This girl LOVES white tennis shoes. We've tried vans, converse, you name it...she always goes back to white tennis shoes! Her last pairs have been Skechers and she wears them till they die, literally! We shopped for nearly 2 hours and ended up buying the almost exact same shoe (at least these have a sole).
My Grandpa says...
"Use it up
wear it out
make it do
or do without!"

Little League...for Westley

After watching so many high school baseball games (26 scheduled this season) it was nice to get back to Little League. No winners, no MVP, everyone bats and everyone runs the bases. No outs, no score. I love this simplicity and the fun of it!
I counted nine Dads on the field. Practically one-on-one coaching for the outfielders. That is awesome, what a great way to learn the game!
Westley gets the player "out" at home plate!

Rich helps him get off the gear after the inning.

Audrey and her Great-Grandma Sperry...love these pictures!

All the California Great-Granddaughters!

Like Father...Like Son!

Second cousins, kissing cousins...what are the kids of cousins to each other...well cute!

Where a kid can be a kid!

It's Audrey's fifth birthday and she celebrated and "Icks & Sneezes" uhh...I mean Chuck E. Cheeses. My favorite place to share germs and viruses. Just the thought of playing in a sweaty 1,000 square foot space with 150 children all at once. Sharing games...handling joy sticks & skee balls, slapping buttons and playing air hockey...then --eating overpriced cardboard pizza with your nasty hands! We wouldn't miss this for anything!
Look at this girl's face! She is so excited with all the tickets she won!

Kim's got a handful herself!

Makenzie and Austin in the climbing structure cage.

My Grandma and Grandpa are in town for a visit from Idaho so it was perfect timing for a birthday party.

Oops...forgot to rotate the picture. This is Audrey's cake made by my sister the Ace of Cakes Queen!
April reads the cards to Audrey...this was so cute!

Me, Auntie Cat and Makenzie in the climbing cage...scarrrry!

Uncle Jason, Rich and Tucker on the mini skee ball machine. They are playing on their knees!

Me and my sista!

Racing with Logan on some crazy driving machine. He wanted to play this with me all night. I know why as soon as the game started...he was good at it and I lost, of course!
Tucker and Westley with their ice cream treats!

Kapala, Makaha Sons, Reno...all-you-can-eat!

Aloha!
It was an adult getaway in Reno to see a Makaha Sons concert. Our kids were a lot disappointed that they didn't get to go and see Auntie Linda and watch Uncle Kimo perform. Lucky for us they couldn't attend because it was held inside the casino.
The boys...
Shaka brah!
Uncle Kimo performed with his group, Kapala. Auntie Linda, (Mom's sister) Terry, Mom and Scott.
Our cheesy flower leis were given to us at the casino, they light up, of course! I turned mine off within a one minute before I could develop a flashing headache.
It was a great out-of-town trip. We left on Friday afternoon and stopped at the Sushi Pier for all-you-can-eat sushi. Believe me, we ate all we could eat! Saturday morning we ate all-you-can-eat breakfast at the hotel (good hot food), all-you-can-eat soup and salad at Olive Garden for lunch, dinner luau buffet (all-you-can-eat) at the casino before the show. We finished the day at the movies after the concert with all-you-can-eat popcorn buckets! It was a magical weekend and we didn't go hungry!

...and Easter at Papa and Grandma's

Ever since I was a little girl I remember having an Easter bunny birthday cake, which I always shared with my sister. I am one year and four days older than her...and she doesn't let me forget it. This year, since it was Easter and my birthday on the same day, it seemed appropriate to celebrate with an Easter bunny birthday cake! Kim did a great job, don't you think?
It had already been a full day of Easter celebrations when we went to my parents house to end the day. April and her family were there and we did another egg hunt with them. This time inside because it was raining outside.
When April first showed Audrey how to gather eggs she put it in her shirt before dropping it in the basket...so every egg Audrey picked up she first put it in her shirt and then dropped it in her basket. Silly girl!
