Terry, Aaron and I set out for Camp Bountiful on Saturday the 20th, right after Aaron's baseball game. Kimberlee had left on Friday for her trip with Grandma Jill to Utah and Idaho. We spent two nights at Bountiful before all the scouts and other leaders arrived. It was so peaceful! We took a few walks, ate, read and rode the zipline. We even saw a bear on Saturday and Sunday. Yikes!

Terry and Aaron start our Sunday night campfire.

When the scouts arrived the work began. I taught three merit badges with Debra. Art, Leatherworking and Basketry.

Aaron took Art and Basketry. He completed 6 merit badges and one partial to finish at home. He worked hard all week.

Terry helped out with my camp stool the boys had to weave. He reinforced it with screws.

Jadon shows off a new way to use his basket!

Taylor's completed camp stool weaving. He did an awesome job!

As part of the art merit badge you could create a logo and apply it to something useful. Brandon and Taylor created a new troop flag. I think it turned out great!

No gathering with boys would be complete without a friendly game of football. Old guys verses young guys. Terry made a few great plays, however he was hardly walking when the game was over. This great catch nearly knocked him out!

A few great blocks, like in his glory days!

And a great catch!

Old guys!

Young guys!

Aaron loads up for a throw...

Rod comes in for the block...

Competition is fierce at scout camp between troups. Here Aaron, Taylor and Jed complete a wooden puzzle in the fastest time!

He was a little happy about it!

This was "survivor suprise". Part of the competition was to eat a cup of this in the fastest time. The smell alone should've turned you off but boys will to ANYTHING to win!

One of Aaron's favorite places this week. He was the first to complete this merit badge, which I've learned is not an easy one to accomplish since you have to qualify to prove you can pass. Lots of rules and new information, too. I saw the test...yikes!

Creating the plan to win this round of competition...

Terry and I went for a ride on Tom's quad for a short while. It was nice to disappear from camp alone and enjoy the beautiful sites. Believe me we had our eyes open for bears since Tom and Marge had just spotted one on their ride out of camp.

Another wooden puzzle, the competition continues.

Digging up pieces out of the sand.

A friendly game of stilt jousting, I lost, Mike wins, again!

Aaron's troop singing "Slippery Fish" at campfire. It's not very often that 14 year old boys sing preschool songs in front of a crowd!

The winners of survivor games at camp...they were a little bit happy!

Receiving silver beads to become Eagle warriors!

During campfire of the last night at camp the boys had the privilege of participating in a flag burning ceremony. Eleven worn flags were retired that night. I learned that the only two organizations authorized to retire flags are the US Military and the Boy Scouts of America. The fire is not extinguished, it is allowed to burn out so that no pieces of the flag are recognizable. It was a cool experience.

The videos below are a short clip of the football game and Aaron's first ride on the zipline. Sorry I can't turn the video to post it.
